Medicare Agent on Long Island: Independent Help in Suffolk & Nassau

Greenlight Insurance Agency is a family-run, independent Medicare agency based on Long Island, NY. Since 2007 we have helped Long Islanders make sense of Medicare and pick coverage that fits their doctors, prescriptions, and budget.

Local help from people who know Long Island

Medicare decisions are personal, and they're local too. Which doctors you see, the hospitals near you, and whether you spend winters somewhere warmer all shape the right choice.

We live and work here, and we understand how Long Islanders use their healthcare. We meet by phone, by video, or in person, whichever is easiest for you.

Being independent means we don't work for one insurance company. We compare options from the insurers we represent and explain them in plain English, with no pressure.

Where we help on Long Island

We are Long Island based and work with clients all over Suffolk County and Nassau County. On the South Shore, that includes neighbors in West Islip, Babylon, West Babylon, Bay Shore, Islip, Brightwaters, Lindenhurst, Deer Park, and Brentwood.

Farther afield, we help people in Huntington, Smithtown, Patchogue, Hauppauge, and out to the East End. In Nassau we work with clients from Massapequa and Wantagh to Levittown, Hicksville, Garden City, and the North Shore.

If your town isn't listed, we can still help. Most reviews happen by phone or video.

Medicare Advantage & Part D

Other protection

Cancer insurance, critical illness coverage, and retirement planning conversations for people who want an extra layer of security.

Our help comes at no cost to you, and you are never obligated to enroll in anything.

Why New York's Medigap rules matter for Long Islanders

New York requires insurers that sell Medicare Supplement plans to accept applications year-round, and they can't charge more because of your health. Premiums also can't be based on your age.

That gives Long Islanders more flexibility than people in most states. If you already have a Medigap plan, it may be worth comparing what other insurers charge for the same plan in your area. Our New York Medigap guide explains how it works.

Meet Scott & Jordan

Scott Renert founded The Greenlight Insurance Agency in 2007. His son Jordan Renert now runs the agency alongside him. As a family business, we treat clients the way we would want our own parents treated. That means patient explanations, honest answers, and a phone that gets answered.

Many of our clients came to us through friends and family. You can read what our clients say or learn more about us.

Not just Long Island

Long Island is home, but we are licensed in 18 states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Maine, Ohio, Michigan, Illinois, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Texas, Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, and California.

That matters if you are moving to be near family, spending winters in Florida, or helping a parent in another state. We can keep helping you after the move.

How it works

  1. Talk: a short call to learn about your situation, doctors, and prescriptions.
  2. Compare: we lay out your options side by side in plain English.
  3. Enroll: if you decide to move forward, we help with the application and timing.
  4. Stay in touch: we're here for questions all year and check in every fall.
